Romney came in first in Michigan, and not by a whisker as many people were saying...He got 9% more of the vote than McCain. The Republican race is open even further, and it puts Mitt back in play for sure.
Saturday has Nevada and South Carolina. Romney will take Nevada mostly (which has,I believe, 34 delegates) - and you may be able to credit that to the big Mormon population there, too - and he may come in 3rd in South Carolina (which I believe has 24 delegates).
But a lot of people are now taking a look at him. I predict Thompson comes in first in SC. Which gives us 4 frontrunners. Then Rudy Giuliani takes Florida, thanks to all the ex-New Yorkers there. 5 Frontrunners.
Wow! I think this is great.
UPDATE: Welcome to all you visitors from CNN. As you see, I was wrong about Thompson in SC. But I think we should be judicious when we hear people declare McCain as the "clear" front runner. He has 38 delegates to Romney's 72. Last I checked, 72 is greater than 38.
I think CNN does not like Romney, as you pointed out the math clearly shows who has the most delegates a this point in time (As of 01/20/2008 Delegate counts are Romney:66 McCain 38 Huckabee:26). It is clear to see how the CNN pushes their own choice by portraying Romney in a bad way, look at the pictures they use of him, the headlines of their articles about him, the opinions they use on him. At the same time as they report the stories in a very insidious they are trying to sway the public opinion their way.

Hi umix,
I agree, but it's not just CNN. All the mainstream media has a problem with him. And I think it could be because he is so apparently flawless and smooth. He's not someone that they can look down on in any way, or ridicule.
Like I say on today's post, if someone can survive going up against the Kennedy machine in the 94 elections with his reputation in tact, then perhaps there are no skeletons in that closet.

Why doesn't the media like Romney? Did you see that unusually scathing newspaper article about him? About how he must be stopped?? He APPEARS to be flawless, but apparently he's the phoniest of them all.

Don't believe everything in print, especially editorials which are personal opinions of the writers. That includes the scathing newspaper article about Romney. I am amazed how many Americans follow the media like sheep following a woolf. All these scathing reports have no fact, just opinion. They are no better than a local person arguing with another at the local diner, the only difference is they are printed in the newspaper. Please, Americans, wake up and do some research. Don't use infor from an editorial to make you decisions. If you do, you are giving your vote and voice away to the loudest newspaper or newscaster in town instead of thinking for yourself. I have researched and found Mitt to have many good qualities. He even personally went to the disaster relief efforts after the recent CA fires. He did not bring media, but instead used a chainsaw and worked in the dirt clearing a huge burned tree from a person's home. I could see the article headlines if Huckabee or McCain, or help us all-Hillary had gone to help! Mitt instead does what he does and tries to help people.
